Activities on the South Coast

 The town of Port Edward is nearby where you can find shops, supermarkets, doctors, banks, restaurants. There are a number of farm stalls and craft studios in the area. Margate and Shelly Beach offer various larger shopping malls.

 
Beach Activities:
Glenmore, Kidds and Peter Pan Beaches offers unspoilt swimming areas protected by shark nets. 
These stunning beaches with stretches of white sand and rock pools caters for kiddies, surfers, snorkelers , sun seekers, bodyboarders and fishermen alike. Lifeguards are on duty in high season. 
The annual Glenmore Ski-boat Classic Fishing Competition is held every May at Glenmore Beach and always attracts crowds when the boats bring in their catches. 
Rock and surf fishing in the winter months can be very rewarding. 
Dolphin, whale watching and deep sea fishing trips are offered at Port Edward.

The annual Sardine Run knows as the “Greatest Shoal on Earth” happens every year between June & July. The small silvery fish attract thousands of Dolphins and gannets, not to mention the sharks and big game fish, it truly is one of the most spectacular natural events in the world.

 

Activities away from the beach:
Try your luck at the Wild Coast Casino which is a short drive from Leisure Bay.

There are three top class golf courses in the area San Lameer, Southbroom and Wild Coast Casino.
For the more adventurous there is horse riding, a 4x4 Track, Rock Climbing and Jet Skiing at "The Pont ".

Scuba diving excursions to the infamous Protea Banks leave from Shelly Beach.

Oribi Gorge offers gorge swings & abseiling

For the nature lovers the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve offers hiking/biking trails, or see fearsome crocs at the Riverbend Crocodile Farm in Southbroom.

There are a number of top class restaurants to choose from and don’t forget to visit  Beaver creak Coffee farm.
